This week we were given homework which involved drawing bones and skeletons in order to learn more about proportioning, anatomy and how the body was structured and how it moves. In other words we drew spoopy skellingtons in order to make ourselves better artists.
Pelvises (Pelvi?) are actually rather fun to draw.
The first sketches I did were of the skull and pelvis. We were told to sketch some important bones and bone structures in the body and what's more important than your skull? It holds your brain and is the main reason you have a face.
Bones are rather fun in general.
The next bone structures I drew were the shoulder and the forearm.

Views of the common spooky, scary skeleton.

We then had to draw three views of the skeleton; one front, side and back. We also had to label things like the bones, the joints and the type of joints. Rib's aren't fun...

This week we were given the assignment of modelling a temple in Maya.
Enter the dragon.
Here is a front view of the temple. It's come together reasonably well however I still need to correctly the map the UVs as they are currently just automatically mapped. The door, albeit awesome, is just a place holder.

Here is a quarter top view of the temple. Things still need to be mapped. I thought it would be interesting to use a marble texture for some of the structures of the temple.

Here is a side view of the temple. We get a good view of the marble structure as well as the golden pointy-things that adorn parts of the temple.

A couple of weeks ago we were given the assignment to draw an insectoid creature. Creature could be from any kind of fiction, be it sci-fi or fantasy and it could either be a person, a monster or both. We were really just told to go crazy with an insect idea.

A more human approach to an insectoid creature.

Templar Bug.

These are the sketches I produced whilst coming up with ideas for my final piece. I was influenced by many different insects and drew designs that varied  from monstrous to sort of cute.
These were three of the designs I believed to be most promising. A large hulking monster, a lanky bug-man with a camera, and a more human take on an insectoid creature.
The design I went with was that of the lanky alien with a camera, named Shovelface. I chose him as I had already sort of given him a name and thought he had more character than a generic insect alien monster.
This is an inked picture of Shovelface which was to be painted in Photoshop.
This is the coloured picture of Shovelface. I omitted the background as I found that it would clash with the colour scheme of the insect photographer.
Shovelface's occupation is Space Tourist; he travels all over the galaxy taking pictures of pretty landscapes and nebulae and posts them on his Instagrogm (the galactic version of Instagram) page. He gets all of his funds from donations from fans of his work and uses it to go places and take even more photos of things.
We were given the assignment to model a gas pump in Maya, this is a model of said gas pump. It's based off of an older model of pump like those seen in america a couple of decades ago not like one you'd find at Tesco Express.

This is the moodboard I did for my Halloween assignment. It's just pictures of thing I thought'd be useful for the assignment.

This week were given the assignment of designing a monster as it was the week of Halloween and seemed rather fitting.
The first sketch I came up with was a skull with a large muscular body. I was really just a doodle I did when I was bored. I think muscles can make something seem more brutal and scarier, no one wants to be mauled or broken to death.
These are two other sketches. The first one is a rather dandy, albeit sinister looking, pumpkin fellow in suit and tie with a large cigar. The second picture is more of a Japanese inspired monster. It is a body of a woman possesed by some supernatural force giving her bladed fingers on her right hand and numerous mouths and eyes all over her body.
The last of my sketches include a rather creepy Gremlin thing, an obese zombie, a teddy bear with a chainsaw and a strange, overly-muscular teddy bear with a hat.
This is my final design for a Halloween monster. He's a creepy teddy bear mobster with crooked eyes, a horrendous scowl and a missing, perpetually bleeding left ear. His weapon of choice is a baseball bat. Perhaps the scariest thing about him is that he doesn't want to kill you, he only wants to break your legs.
This is a coloured picture of the character. I gave him the name of Don Sprinkles because it matches his personality.
